Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is a Good Turn Based RPG with Bad DLC Practices

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth launched this week January 26th and is getting really good reviews as our major good turn based rpg of 2024 with a 90 on Opencritic and a 89 on Metacritic. Of course despite the great reviews for this game it is a new low with the DLC practices. With the growing push by publishers for digital incentives over physical versions for games, New Game + is exclusive to the digital deluxe and digital ultimate edition with as of this writing no way to upgrade the physical version.

In addition to that, there was already two character classes in the game that were preorder only and was stated to be exclusive to preorders and not be available for purchase later. It seems crazy to me with DLC that we have reached a point where New Game Plus and specific classes are paywalled off to digital versions and preorder only respectively.

Time will tell how this year plays out but 2024 might be a year full off good turn based rpgs with bad DLC practices.
